Welcome to Small Winery Magazine
Small Winery Magazine is a publication created to provide inspiration and information for those who aspire to operate a small winery. I have (arbitrarily) defined a small winery as one that produces less than 10,000 gallons of wine a year. I strongly believe we need more such wineries in North America, to accommodate the growing body of wine drinkers to whom winery visits are as much a part of a vacation as are visits to local museums, parks, or antique stores.

They will be largely family-run businesses - or at most a few close friends who pool financial and labor resources. The operators may grow all or part of their own fruit, or they may purchase their entire crush. In some cases they might produce wine from a combination of fruit, juice, and concentrate. It doesn't matter, as long as they make drinkable wine, provide an enjoyable venue for their customers, and have fun doing it.
